In the spirit of recapping this festive Thanksgiving week, filled with Turkey and NFL goodness, we’ll skip the stuffing and go right for the meat of the rankings. I’ll give you a hint. The King is still King, and at least one of the Warriors is losing the battle.

The Basketball Jesus Rankings: Week 4

, Monday, November 24, 2008 at 8:21 PM Comments (0)

The Golden State Warrior tandem that has been shocking the Larry Bird Fantasy Basketball world is holding on, but they’re fading fast too. It’s going to take a monumental effort for Stephen Jackson (11) and Andris Biedrins (13) to hold off the likes of Al Jefferson, Kobe Bryant, Carmelo Anthony and newcomer, Derrick Rose.

Fantasy Match-up Recap

It probably didn’t come as a surprise, but my team won the match-up 6-4.  Nate is all talk, no game just like his basketball skills.  I predicted a 6-4 win, and that is exactly what i got, although it could have been a lot worse for Nate, he is lucky Calderon got injured.

As the young season chugs along, all is becoming normal in the top-10 of The Basketball Jesus Rankings, but there are still a few statistical outliers sneaking their way into the top-15.

Here at The Drubbing, we are engaged in many sports related activities.  One of our favorites is fantasy sports.  Currently, four of the contributors are in a Fantasy basketball league and two of them just happen to be playing each other this week.  I am going to run down a preview of the match-up between Nate and myself and give a prediction of who will win.  Nate will in turn write a recap and a forecast halfway through the week, then the winner will get a chance to have the last say.

The Basketball Jesus Rankings: Week 2

, Monday, November 10, 2008 at 6:57 PM Comments (0)

Just a week and a half removed from Halloween, Week 2 of The Basketball Jesus Rankings are still serving up some tricks and a few treats if you’re a Golden State Warriors fan. All is right in the world of Larry Bird Fantasy Basketball Leagues as LeBron James appears to have cemented his position at the top of the rankings, barring injury, as he’s built a 50-point lead on the rest of the field. But I’m still having trouble grasping the player that’s catapulted to the #5 position.

As week one has come to a close, I’m back to report a few shockers in the rankings for the Lary Bird Fantasy Basketball League. The NBA has had a few surprise performances, and a lot of disappointments for fantasy owners so far. The Basketball Jesus Rankings have had a few of our own.

The Larry Bird Fantasy Basketball League

In the latest edition of ESPN The Magazine, a great Boston sports hero wrote about a specialized fantasy basketball league that pays homage to an even greater Boston sports hero.

After being struck by the simplicity and elegance of a league focused on Points, Rebounds and Assists, I decided to run the numbers to see if it would be filled with the usual suspects, or if there would be some surprises.
