Basketball Jesus is back

Basketball JesusThe NBA season completely crept up on me. I think I was still baffled by the Red Sox quick exit from the playoffs and nervously wondering if Tom Brady would regain his Pro Bowl form. By the way, he has, even though he still can’t throw the long balls to Randy Moss, but those will come, and I digress.

So year two of the Basketball Jesus Rankings are upon us and what better way to kick off the NBA season that to get right to the pre-season rankings. But first, a little refresher. The criteria is simple, each player must do their best to impersonate the most well-rounded player in NBA history, none other than Basketball Jesus himself, The Hick from French Lick, Larry Joe Bird. To do so, the top-ranked players will be the ones that can amass the most points, rebounds and assists. Any combination will do.

The magic number is 45. Any combination of points, rebounds and assists that adds up to 45 per game lands you in an elite club. LeBron came close last season, averaging 43.3 in the 81 games that he played. He always has a chance. So here are the pre-season Basketball Jesus Rankings for the 2009-2010 season with the players totals from last year next to them.

Got Knee Pain?! is now in the Adrian Peterson sweepstakes after having zero depth at QBEvery year around this time, thousands of frantic football fans prepare for their NFL Fantasy Football draft.  This is where teams are made, bragging rights born, and trash talking starts.  The draft can make or break your team.  Not only do you need to come away with 3 solid players in the first three rounds, but you also need to be prepared to add depth in the later rounds so you can prepare for the unexpected.  Every fantasy football team is one Bernard Pollard hit away from scrambling for the waiver wire.

After having 2 drafts completed, and only 1 keeper team remaining, i feel that i can give away a few hints, trade secrets and general strategy.  My Vegas Cheetahs franchise is fully stacked after having smartly drafted DeAngelo Williams (3rd), Chris Johnson (4th), & Steve Slaton (10th) with some timely mid-to-late round picks last year, so i feel it’s safe for me to give some advice this year.

Basketball JesusIt’s a sad, sad day, but the final installment of this years Basketball Jesus Rankings are upon us. I’ll cut to the chase because it’s no surprise who finished in the top spot. There wasn’t much time to move up or down in the short week, so LeBron easily held onto the number one position.

Basketball JesusAfter a month filled with NCAA basketball, this first week of April has been leading up to the NCAA Championship tonight. But once that’s over, the focus will quickly shift to the NBA Playoffs, Where Amazing Happens.

Ironically enough, we actually have two players in the rankings this week that played for one of the teams competing for the NCAA title. Vince Carter in the number 14 spot and Antawn Jamison in the number 7 spots both suited up in Carolina blue for the UNC Tar Heels. Will that bode well for their alma mater, only time will tell. Now on to the rest of the players in this weeks Basketball Jesus Rankings.

Basketball JesusLeBron James continues his reign for another week as Dwyane Wade continues to fend of Kobe Bryant for the number three spot. Chris Bosh has taken quite a tumble. He was once attempting to solidify his position as the number three ranked player and since Kobe took that position from him he has steadily slid down and now sits at the number nine position.
