The NHL All-Star Snoozefest

If you’re a hockey fan you probably are aware the NHL held it’s annual All-Star festivities this past weekend in Montreal. What normally is an event I get geeked up for turned out to be one of the weaker exhibitions in recent memory. Sans most of the skills competition, I was bored out of my mind. Maybe it all started with the way the voting played out, maybe it wasn’t.

Harvey Dent in a Cowboys uni?

It didn’t take long for a few of the Dallas Cowboys to show their true colors. Following the 44-6 beat-down given by the Philadelphia Eagles last weekend, the Cowboys were left licking their wounds and facing many tough questions.

Alright, alright – I know – it wasn’t the most thrilling World Series, but it was definitely interesting. I’d like to congratulate my beloved Philadelphia Phillies for finally bringing home a world championship. Yes, we defeated the Tampa Bay Rays, but those same Rays knocked off the defending champs. That says something about the quality club Tampa has, but more importantly it says something about the Phils.

If you’re a fan of college football and/or an avid viewer of sports news, you may have seen video clips the other week or read some tidbits of Penn State football coach Joe Paterno and USC football coach Pete Carroll ranting about the Bowl Championship Series, better known as the “BCS.” I found both rants quite entertaining, but very different, especially with the outcome of this past weekend in college football.

Third Time’s a Charm…maybe

Let me first state the obvious. In the past 25 years there has not been a single major professional sports championship celebrated in the city of brotherly love. However, if you believe the Philadelphia Soul – winner of ArenaBowl XXII – broke that streak this past July I ask you to stop reading now. Jump on the same train that Bon Jovi and Ron Jaworski are riding. Take that train and ride it as far as it’ll take you. Ride it away from Philly and away from me, because if that victory quenches your thirst for a real championship I don’t want you rooting for my team in this most recent edition of the fall classic.
