LA Lakers at it again…

It’s safe to say I have taken my fair shots at the LA Lakers (here and here, and probably a few other times in numerous posts).  Well, i won’t disappoint with yet another cheap shot from the Lakers.  Tervor Ariza last night laid the smack down on Rudy Fernandez.

Was this a hard foul, absolutely.  Was he going for the ball, kinda.  Were the Lakers down 25 points in the 3rd quarter, yes.  There are times and places for hard fouls, but being blown out is not one of them.  My favorite part of this video is the Laker announcers immediately saying Rudy got hurt because he landed awkwardly.  They practically said it while Rudy was in mid-air.  Apparently “if you go off of one leg, you expose yourself”, because if Rudy had jumped off of two legs (or 3) Trevor would not have given Rudy a forearm shiver to the back of his noggen…

Bottom line, there is a time and a place for hard fouls.  In baseball, you throw up and in during a close game or during the beginning of a game, no big deal.  You throw up and in if you are getting waxed, that is how fights start.
