Jay Cutler Still Sucks his Thumb

Yup, i am a goober.

Yup, i am a goober.

The NFL is a business.  It always has been a business and will always be a business as long as they have both Free Agency and a Salary Cap.  Teams will try to get the best value by underpaying so they can stay within the Salary Cap, and players will use their agents to get the maximum amount of guaranteed money.  Players are constantly ax’ed because of their hefty contracts, and players constantly hold out because they want a new contract (even if they already just signed a deal a year prior).  This is just how life is in the NFL.

Jay Cutler does not think this applies to him.  His name has been rumored in a few trade talks this past weekend.  A lot of NFL players get their named tossed in trade talks throughout the year.  As a GM or coach you would be stupid not to at least listen to an offer for any of your players.  Apparently Jay Cutler thinks he is above that.  He has stated,

“They want me to come in and talk to ‘em but I’m not doing it right now; I’m going to lay low,” said Cutler. “The [Broncos] deny everything. That’s a problem. We know for a fact they tried to trade me.”

Wow, he sounds like a spoiled, bratty, 14 year old girl that didn’t get voted Prom Queen.  Apparently his agent, Bus Cook (SHOCKER he was Brett Favre’s agent)  is sipping the same immature and irrational Kool-Aid stating,

“Because that’s a vote of no confidence in the guy,” Cook told The Associated Press on Sunday. “I don’t care if you’re talking about trading him for Matt Cassel, Matt Ryan or Tom Brady. That’s a vote of no confidence in him, and that’s how Jay sees it and I would, too.  I don’t know if they were actively seeking to trade Jay, but on the other hand, I don’t know that they were turning a deaf ear to potential offers, either.”

"You kinda suck, but my dad said you might be good someday."

You are right Bus, and Jay.  Your play has earned your untradeable status in the NFL.  Your sub .500 starting QB record, along with your 1 int per game average cannot be improved.   Not to mention one of the biggest collapses in NFL history by not making the playoffs.  Sure the defense was terrible, but for an untradable guy, averaging less than 20 points per game down the stretch is not really scorching the defenses.  Funny, you do not hear GM’s complaining that they are losing free agents to other teams because they cannot give them the highest offer.  Nor do you hear GM’s and coaches ask for money back when a player does not live up to his contract.  The NFL is a business, and if you want to be sucessful, you need to be humbled every once in awhile, so you can take a step back and see that you are not God’s gift to the earth.

The fact of the matter is, YOU WERE NOT TRADED!

So for having the emotions of a teenage girl, Jay Cutler, you are this week’s Drubbing nominee to be taken behind the woodshed and beaten.
