Celtics fans plan boycott until Scalabrine returns

Arai HelmetNot really. Celtics fans love Scal, but not that much, I think. But as any C’s fan knows, Scal has been playing out of his mind lately. And now we know why. As of Wednesday, Brian Scalabrine is out indefinitely after suffering two concussions in three days.

The first shot to the noggin was suffered in the second half of the Celtics’ blowout win in Dallas on Sunday. The second was suffered in Tuesday’s practice after the wirey Patrick O’Bryant gave Scal an inadvertent blow to the dome while going up for a rebound. Thin guys like O’Bryant are notorius for their sharp elbows, I know from personal experience.

Who knows what “out indefinitely” really means in this NBA because after more prodding the Celtics said they expect Scalabrine to be out for less than a week. For the sake of fantasy owners, I think the NBA needs to develop the Probable, Questionable and Doubtful that the NFL uses. I’m sure Jeff Van Gundy would agree.
