Harvey Dent in a Cowboys uni?

It didn’t take long for a few of the Dallas Cowboys to show their true colors. Following the 44-6 beat-down given by the Philadelphia Eagles last weekend, the Cowboys were left licking their wounds and facing many tough questions.

It wasn’t shocking to me to see the comments made by Terrell Owens that he wanted to be a part of the solution in Dallas as he once again gave us the “team first” mantra that seemingly comes across as just words for No. 81. His actions throughout the season, rather throughout his career,  tell me otherwise.

It was reported by Jean-Jacques Taylor of The Dallas Morning News that Tank Johnson entered the Dallas locker room after the season finale saying, “I’m a free agent. I’m a free agent.”

All that isn’t too surprising I guess, but I was more shocked with Dallas quarterback Tony Romo’s reactions. Romo who normally goes along with being the good guy, the company guy, was asked by a reporter how he deals with tough losses and the response was true, but showing in the same sense. Romo said, “I wake up tomorrow and I keep living.” Granted he’s got a life outside of his job, and he can’t sit and dwell on things and he needs to keep on trucking, but, wouldn’t most coaches, teammates, owners, and fans want to see a little more fire from their starting quarterback?

I’m definitely not calling for a reaction like that from linebacker Bradie James, but maybe somewhere in between the two. You may have heard James approached a Dallas fan protesting in the parking lot outside the Cowboys practice facility last Monday. James got worked up and ripped the signs off of the fan, breaking his sunglasses in the process.

Harvey Dent, a.k.a. Two-Face, I mean Tony Romo was sighted recently wearing a No.9 Dallas Cowboys jersey. Romo, who I saw on ESPN leading up to the matchup with the Eagles telling reporters something along the lines that his team was preparing well and he was expecting big things from the Cowboys. Not too long after getting his butt kicked up and down the field, Romo was joining the ranks of Owens by criticizing offensive coordinator Jason Garrett. Maybe his comments earlier in the week were little white lies to convince everyone that the scheme they were applying for the Eagles was solid.

Obviously he thinks differently. To call out your offensive coordinator is wrong. For no one to then speak up and support Garrett makes me think that he may be on his way out -  possibly. Either way, the Cowboys are facing an uphill battle. It seems Jerry Jones has given his endorsement to keep coach Wade Phillips on for another season. Does Jason Garrett get to stay – even though the starting quarterback and star wide-receiver seem to think he’s inept? What changes get made will certainly be fun to watch as an Eagles fan, but it’s been quite entertaining to see the Cowboys beat themselves up verbally. Losing never makes a team feel good, but “teams” who lose and start pointing fingers can’t be moving in the right direction.

The Eagles just finished off the Vikings in their Wild Card matchup and are heading to the Divisional round versus the New York Giants. Can anyone say for sure, they know what direction Romo and the Cowboys are headed?
