Al Davis Calling Offensive Plays

The LA Raiders are in a state of free fall.  This is not news, but with the recent firing of yet another Head Coach, Al Davis may start calling plays himself next year.  Now, there is no doubt that Al has been around and knows more about football than i ever imagine of learning.  But there comes a point in a person’s life where they should just take a step back, know they are past their prime and let things go.  If we ever had a chance for someone to use a video game to make play calls, this may be the time.

I have always wondered  if some Madden prodigy would be able to win an NFL game.  I feel the video gamer would smartly manage the clock, go for a 30yd FG down 10 with 2:30 left instead of trying an insane 4th and 15 play like so many coaches now do, and successfully go for a 2pt conversion at certain times.  Now, since Al is a little older he may not know about the sensation that is Madden, but he would have to know about Tecmo Bowl, right? Imagine Al Davis telling JaMarcus Russel to drop back to his own endzone so he can throw a bomb to a wide open Willie Gault, or telling McFadden that zig zagging on the field helped Bo score on almost every play.

Bo Jackson in Techmo Bowl may be the single greatest player in video game history. Barry Sanders in early versions of Madden was close. But Bo was out of control.

Agreed, i would also put Mike Vick’s early Madden career (pre-dogs) into the mix as well. But no one will top Bo’s absurd powers.
