Follow-up: The Drubbing Fantasy Basketball Match-up of the Week

To follow up Ryan’s preview of a hotly contested early season match-up between two of our fantasy basketball teams I’ve got a mid-week progress report that shows less progress than I would have liked.

Midway through the week our teams are knotted at 5-5. A few categories are already looking out of reach, and a few others will go down to the wire. With Michael Redd still out and Corey Maggette skipping out on a game or two, I was hoping to have a lead of some sort. But Mehmet Okur’s unplanned trip to Turkey has thrown a wrench into those plans. Here are the standings, as they currently stand.

  1. FGM – Nate
  2. FG% – Nate
  3. FT% – Ryan
  4. 3PT – Ryan
  5. PTS – Ryan
  6. REB – Nate
  7. AST – Ryan
  8. STL – Nate
  9. BLK – Ryan
  10. TO – Nate

My team has been struggling, especially in the percentages which I hoped would be a point of emphasis for me this year. There’s no way Field Goal percent should be this close and what are the odds that both Carlos Boozer and LaMarcus Aldridge both shoot below 50% from the line in the same week. Ryan’s team is slightly better than struggling, which gives me a glimmer of hope for the rest of the week. His rookies are coming up big so it’s not going to be easy, even if he doesn’t get Redd back for the entire week.

Let’s just hope Peja and Mike Miller can hit more than two 3′s in the second half of the week and that Derrick Rose and Rudy Fernandez don’t kill me. I’m hoping for a 6-4 win. But if I’m already relying on hope, it’s not looking good.

you better hope you make the playoffs with that squad of Sallys

Greatness will prevail (that’s me) and I’ll make my return to the playoffs. The only question is, will you be joining me there or not. The jury is still out.

Doyle’s team is suspect at best.
