The NBA: Where Amazing Happens. Which Network Airs the NHL?

, Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 1:46 PM Comments (1)

I do not have a problem with CI’s title “It’s Week 7 of the NHL and Alllllll’s Weeeeelllll!” aside from the annoyingly excessive amount of times the letters “l” and “e” appear. I like the NHL. In fact I would say that Ovie is my favorite athlete right now because of the joy and energy that he brings to the game. CI, you made one critical mistake…

The Basketball Jesus Rankings: Week 4

, Monday, November 24, 2008 at 8:21 PM Comments (0)

The Golden State Warrior tandem that has been shocking the Larry Bird Fantasy Basketball world is holding on, but they’re fading fast too. It’s going to take a monumental effort for Stephen Jackson (11) and Andris Biedrins (13) to hold off the likes of Al Jefferson, Kobe Bryant, Carmelo Anthony and newcomer, Derrick Rose.

Italian Soccer Team Channels Marky Mark

Sicilian team, Catania, pulled a 90s-era Mark Wahlberg and dropped their pants while the opposing team was taking a free kick. Was this the start of a very public circle jerk? No. It was their best attempt to block the goalkeeper’s vision.

Fantasy Match-up Recap

, Monday, November 17, 2008 at 10:05 PM Comments (0)

It probably didn’t come as a surprise, but my team won the match-up 6-4.  Nate is all talk, no game just like his basketball skills.  I predicted a 6-4 win, and that is exactly what i got, although it could have been a lot worse for Nate, he is lucky Calderon got injured.

The Basketball Jesus Rankings: Week 3

, Monday, November 17, 2008 at 7:20 PM Comments (0)

As the young season chugs along, all is becoming normal in the top-10 of The Basketball Jesus Rankings, but there are still a few statistical outliers sneaking their way into the top-15.

LeBron James continues to stake his claim to the top spot and is holding onto a stout 47-point lead. Perennial contenders Dwayne Wade, Dwight Howard, Amare Stoudemire, Carlos Boozer, Dirk Nowitzki, Chris Paul and Chris Bosh have claimed a spot in the top ten.

It’s Week 7 of the NHL and Alllllll’s Weeeeelllll!

, Monday, November 17, 2008 at 3:14 PM Comments (0)

Seriously.

Admit it.  Hockey isn’t nearly as boring, hard to follow, trivial, unimportant and irrelevant as you’d like to make it.

We’re now three season’s separated from an NHL work stoppage that many thought would spell the end of hockey in the U.S. for good.  With a plummeting fan base and a TV contract that found its way to rivaling the rodeo for air time, the NHL looked to be in ridiculously thin ice.

Follow-up: The Drubbing Fantasy Basketball Match-up of the Week

To follow up Ryan’s preview of a hotly contested early season match-up between two of our fantasy basketball teams I’ve got a mid-week progress report that shows less progress than I would have liked.

New Jersey Nets are Helping Unemployed Fans

The Nets organization “gets it.”

The economy sucks, we all know that. But we’re not going to make our way out of this by burying our heads in the sand of our own private beaches. The only way for us to come out of this is for us to come together as communities to work collectively on getting everyone to a better place.

The Drubbing Fantasy Basketball Match-up of the Week

, Monday, November 10, 2008 at 10:30 PM Comments (1)

Here at The Drubbing, we are engaged in many sports related activities.  One of our favorites is fantasy sports.  Currently, four of the contributors are in a Fantasy basketball league and two of them just happen to be playing each other this week.  I am going to run down a preview of the match-up between Nate and myself and give a prediction of who will win.  Nate will in turn write a recap and a forecast halfway through the week, then the winner will get a chance to have the last say.

SaberCats de-clawed!

, Monday, November 10, 2008 at 10:04 PM Comments (0)

Alright, alright – I know – it wasn’t the most thrilling World Series, but it was definitely interesting. I’d like to congratulate my beloved Philadelphia Phillies for finally bringing home a world championship. Yes, we defeated the Tampa Bay Rays, but those same Rays knocked off the defending champs. That says something about the quality club Tampa has, but more importantly it says something about the Phils.
