Tour de Ryan

Well, I have been away from the Hut for a while, but it was a worthwhile trip. This summer I went on a tour way more successful then any trip Lance Armstrong took in France. I made my way through a baseball game in the Windy city, a bachelor party trip to the City of Sin, a trip north of the border to see hopefully my new local baseball team, and finally a trip to South Kakalacki to relax on the beach and see the DogFather.

This is not Ocean’s Eleven, but many dares were made to jump in the water…
It all began with a trip to Chicago with a good friend of mine to visit his sister. If you have never been there before I highly suggest going for a vacation during the summer. Any place that you can see skyscrapers right next to a lake so big it has waves, is incredibly cool. The city in general is beautiful, the people are laid back and nice, and the nightlife is out of control. Sports bars, clubs, and restaurant bars are open late and serve anything and everything your throat desires. Our plane was delayed and we arrived at O’Hare at midnight, and we still made it out for a complete night because the apartment where we were staying had a bar at the bottom that closed at 5am….that’s right 5am! The females are gorgeous, friendly, and extremely outgoing. However, those stories are for another type of webpage. Through a interesting relationship that I cannot say, but will mention it involves Mark Grudzielanek’s fiancé and my buddy’s step brother we scored tickets to the 4th of July game between the Cubs and the White Sox. Can I say what you see on TV does not hold a finger to the atmosphere inside and around Wrigley. Wrigleyville is amazing. Outside of Boston, the woman in Chicago know their baseball more then any other city I have been to. The game was packed, the seats were behind home plate, and the walk with the bases loaded to bring in the game winning run in the bottom of the 9th capped off what was a party filled night wondering the streets of downtown Wrigleyville. The one thing that added to the entire night was the fact the God of Chicago himself was there to sing the 7th inning stretch “take me out to the Ball game”, yes Mike Ditka. He was cheered so loudly most people did not even see the bottom half of the inning. The man is a walking Legend in the city. There is something about the old time ballparks like Fenway and to a certain extent Yankee Stadium (although the Devil lives there) that the newer stadiums just don’t have, and Wrigley is right up there among one of my favorite places to watch baseball.

My next stop was in Sin City, that’s right Vegas baby, Vegas. It was the frist of my friends getting married and we were having a bachelor party in the only place worthy of a bachelor party, Las Vegas. This story begins with an ominous start, as on the flight to Nevada, I sat next to a girl who is meeting 20 other girls for a bachelorette party, lets just say when we got there I got a name a number and a hotel room…Back to the story at hand though, we stayed at the wonderful MGM grand, boasting more rooms and hall ways we had maps on how to get to our rooms. Many hours were spent in the Sports Book Betting lounge, and on the casino floor. I thought my favorite game was Let it Ride, but that turned out to be quickly false as I lost quickly and often. My friends enjoyed playing War, which I didn’t even know you could gamble, but then again you can gamble on ANYTHING.

The nights were spent out at bars, laughing drinking and acting like idiots, and the mornings were spent finding out how to get home and then sobering up or drinking again at the beautiful MGM pool. They have a lazy river that I took full advantage of, a nice 10 minute ride that goes by beautiful call girls, escorts, college females, and waitresses. The last night there, although many stories I cannot say (for the guy code at bachelor parties) was spent in downtown Vegas at the older casinos. I definitely recommend going there one night, it is less expensive and the table minimums are less and more plentiful. At the four queens 8 of us had an entire black jack table to ourselves. 3 hours later and me up $100 we all decided to quit and head off to visit my new famous animal, the Vegas Cheetah. But as we were all standing up, our friend says the faithful words “I’m all in”. Now in no limit hold ‘em that is an acceptable call, but in black jack there is no need to. But, before we could stop him he had already received his cards and then split them!!! Yes found some extra cash in his pockets and split his aces, needless to say he lost as the dealer flopped a 20. Its ok though our good friend the Cheetah had some friends that consoled him for any losses at black jack.

Things I learned in Vegas:

  • You can spend entire time in a casino, as there are no windows, drinks served constantly, oxygen pumped into the vents and constant movement and excitement, oh ya and beautiful plastic chested woman walking everywhere.
  • Also, please make sure to w alk around outside the casinos as the water show at the Bellagio is wonderful, the bars have great drink specials and the Mexicans handing out the fliers crack me up. I treated them as baseball cards and have about 60 in my room now (I’ll trade you 2 Kim’s for that Mandy and Michelle 2 for 1 special).
  • And lastly, my favorite late night bar is the Cheetah, don’t ask, just go as woman drive from California just to work a weekend there….’nuff said.

And that’s just the first part… wait for part 2 where I invade Montreal and Myrtle Beach.
